WHO WE ARE
The name 71 South comes from James White Parkway. State
Route 71 is a north-south state highway in Tennessee. It is referred to as a “hidden highway” mostly because it coincides with US 441 in all but a short section in Knoxville. That small section is James White Parkway; which has the only 71 South highway sign posted along the route. James White Parkway use to dead-end southbound. But because of the Gateway to the Urban Wilderness Project, 71 South was extended past that dead-end, through the heart of the Urban Wilderness and to the entrance of Baker Creek Preserve.
71 South is a full service, casual, family friendly restaurant located in the heart of the Urban Wilderness in Knoxville, TN. Our building is one of the oldest churches in Knoxville, dating back to the 1930s. Our backyard is
Baker Creek Preserve, home to nationally recognized mountain biking trails. The park is made up of 100 acres, has three pump-tracks, 42+ miles of trails, five multiuse and three downhill trail systems. 71 South, our restaurant, is a direct reflection of our community in that we love and care about our community dearly, we strive to help preserve the Urban Wilderness.
